Corbyn Koskinen

Corbyn Koskinen graduated from Plumas Charter School in 2019 with his high school diploma AND an associates degree! He credits his teacher, Mrs. Wade for putting in extra effort to make sure he was on track to accomplish both.

What’s he up to now? Corbyn is an Airborne cryptologic linguist for the Air Force. After graduating from PCS, he went to the Defense Language Institute in Monterey where he learned Chinese. He hopes to commission (promote) in a year or two and become a pilot or possibly attend Middlebury College to get a degree in translation.

When he isn’t working, Corbyn enjoys going to weekly pick-up soccer games and attending a blacksmithing class. He also loves hiking, gaming, ax throwing, and cooking. As a PCS student, he remembers going to concerts with friends from other school districts, and having a blast performing with them.

I asked Corbyn about his time at the Quincy Learning Center at PCS. He commented that the flexibility of the school and self-taught nature of some of the classes helped prepare him for life on his own. “It helped me learn how to take control over my life and decide what was best for me while making sure I stayed on top of what needed to get done,” said Koskinen. Without the traditional everyday school schedule, he was also able to work part-time and gain job experience prior to graduation.

Congratulations on your accomplishments, Corbyn. We can’t wait to see what your future holds!
