The Plumas Charter Warriors softball and baseball teams are navigating the early part of their spring seasons with a mix of competitive matchups, individual standouts and continued program development.

Softball: Building Momentum and Battling Through Competition

Coached by Ashlyn and Tristen Clark, the Warriors softball team opened the season with a strong offensive showing, highlighted by a 29-11 win over CORE Butte, where the team collected 12 hits and 26 RBIs in a breakout performance.

Following that early success, the Warriors faced a challenging stretch of games against tough competition, including losses to Arcata (15-0), Trinity (5-3) and Weed (6-3).

Despite the results, several players have stood out statistically; Amaiya Beatty leads the team with a .667 batting average and has also posted an impressive .720 on-base percentage. Kenley Neer is posting a .600 batting average and Lucy Joseph leads the team with 10 stolen bases. Jaycee Pew has contributed both at the plate and in the circle, recording one of the team’s home runs.

The Warriors have continued to show resilience, bouncing back from setbacks and gaining valuable experience against larger programs. Strong individual performances and offensive potential remain key building blocks as the team progresses through the season.

Baseball: Competing Through a Challenging Schedule

The Warriors baseball team has taken on a competitive early-season schedule and currently holds a 4-6 overall record, facing strong opponents while continuing to develop across all areas of the game.

Led by coaches Kaley Bentz and Ted McDonald, recent games have shown both offensive potential and areas for growth. In a March 20 tournament matchup, the Warriors put together a strong early showing but ultimately fell to Modoc 9-5 after scoring five runs in the first two innings. Earlier in the season, the team also faced a tough 17-1 loss against Paradise, highlighting the level of competition the Warriors have encountered.

Despite the results, several players have emerged as key contributors this season. Dalton Bentz leads the team with a .444 batting average, 9 RBIs and 1.00 ERA on the mound. Bodie Kingdon is also a key contributor with runs scored and stolen bases. Logan Mille has added consistency at the plate with a .353 batting average, Liam Schramel has been effective on the mound with a 1.17 ERA, while Zac Smith adds depth with innings pitched and 3 RBIs.

The Warriors have also shown improvement defensively, with players like Kingdon and Bentz posting strong fielding percentages, and younger athletes continuing to step into larger roles as the season progresses.

While results have varied, the Warriors continue to show growth, using each game as an opportunity to gain experience and build momentum heading into the second half of the season.

Across both softball and baseball, the Warriors are demonstrating resilience, teamwork and a commitment to growth as their seasons progress.

Early matchups have tested both teams against strong competition, but have also provided valuable opportunities for players to develop skills, build confidence and contribute in meaningful ways. With a mix of experienced leaders and emerging younger athletes, both programs continue to lay the foundation for future success.

As the season continues, the Warriors remain focused on improvement, competition and representing Plumas Charter School with pride.
