Plumas Charter School’s Quincy Learning Center filled Serpilio Hall with music, color and community spirit during its annual TK–sixth-grade fall performance on Nov. 20. Families gathered at the Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds to watch students from every grade take the stage, connect with teachers and explore new community resource offerings added to this year’s event.
This year’s event was one of the most memorable yet, elevated with expanded programming, new community partnerships and enthusiastic support from students, families and staff under the leadership of assistant director Brittini Wade. “Brittini knocked it out of the park,” said PCS business manager Maggie Hennessey. “Her vision and planning behind it helped energize the entire event.”
Before the show, teachers met with families to share updates, answer questions and strengthen school–home communication. Meanwhile, Ms. Cindy’s fifth and sixth-grade class hosted their traditional chili-dinner fundraiser and delivered the largest spread to date.
Wade introduced a new community-engagement element to the night: service organizations and resource providers set up stations throughout the hall, stamping students’ bingo cards while sharing information with families. Bingo activities ranged from learning about local services to squares like “meet someone new” and the crowd favorite—“high five Ms. Brittini”—which students enthusiastically checked off.
The performance itself showcased the creative talents of every class, from kindergarteners dancing to “Jailhouse Rock” to upper-grade students performing “Bye, Bye, Bye.” A trio dance performance, comedy from the Laugh Out Loud group, and high-energy grade-level numbers kept the audience cheering.
Supporting the production behind the scenes were Mr. Greg’s CTE video production students, who managed lighting and sound with professionalism that impressed families and staff alike.
Serving as emcee was YouTube personality and motivational speaker Mister Brown, whose energy, humor and affirming messages set the tone for the evening. His interactions with students and families brought warmth to the event and kept the program flowing. He instilled a positive message that we are better together when we respect, protect and connect.
Choreographer Kelsea Johnson once again delivered standout, student-friendly routines. Her work culminated in a surprise teacher dance number that brought the audience to its feet and closed the night on an uplifting note.
“The Fall Performance is one of our important community traditions,” Wade said. “It’s a chance for our TK–sixth families to come together, celebrate our students and learn more about the support available to them. We’re grateful to everyone who helped make this year’s performance such a success.”
Plumas Charter School extends its appreciation to all performers, families, staff, volunteers, community partners and students who contributed to the evening.
