Fourth-grade students at Plumas Charter School’s Quincy Learning Center are spending their days exploring, experimenting and laughing alongside Jazmin Leonhardt, who joined PCS in 2025 and is already making a meaningful impact in the classroom.
As the school year unfolds, Leonhardt says she is thoroughly enjoying her time teaching fourth grade. Her students, she shared, bring energy and joy to each day, keeping the classroom lively with their curiosity and sense of humor.
“What stands out most is how much joy the students bring,” Leonhardt said. “They’re thoughtful, funny and always ready to engage.”
Leonhardt especially enjoys teaching science, a subject she is passionate about sharing with her students. She finds it rewarding to watch them ask questions, test ideas and explore the world around them through hands-on learning.
“Seeing their curiosity grow and their excitement for discovery is one of the highlights of my work,” she said. “They really become little scientists.”
Outside the classroom, Leonhardt enjoys reading, hiking and spending quality time with her family. She says those activities help her recharge and return to the classroom with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
One of her favorite quotes reflects the approach she brings to both teaching and life: “There is calmness to a life in gratitude, a quiet joy,” by Ralph H. Blum.
Plumas Charter School is grateful to welcome Leonhardt to the Quincy Learning Center and looks forward to the positive impact she will continue to have on her students throughout her career.
