Plumas Charter School’s Indian Valley Academy (IVA) will host its annual student showcase on Thursday, April 2, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Greenville, inviting families and community members to experience an evening of student achievement, creativity and campus-wide exploration.
Building on the success of last year’s first showcase at IVA’s new campus, this year’s event expands into a full community open house, offering guests the opportunity to not only view student work, but also explore programs, facilities and partnerships that continue to grow on campus.
Student Work Takes Center Stage
Student projects will be displayed throughout the IVA gymnasium, highlighting work across grade levels and subject areas. Some student-created items will also be available for purchase, and attendees are encouraged to browse a selection of silent auction items during the event. In addition, students will be competing for cash prizes sponsored by Plumas Strong, and guests will have the opportunity to cast their vote for a People’s Choice Award, helping recognize standout projects from the evening.
Dinner and Fundraising Opportunities
Guests are encouraged to plan to stay for dinner, as the Mountain Valley Parents Club will host a taco dinner fundraiser in the culinary classroom during the showcase. Proceeds will support student activities and programs.
In addition to the gymnasium exhibits, visitors are encouraged to explore multiple areas across campus:
Career Technical Education: Welding and Manufacturing Pathway
Visitors are encouraged to stop by the welding shop, where PCS’s Career Technical Education (CTE) Manufacturing Pathway will host an open house showcasing its new equipment and program offerings.
Classes at IVA launched in January 2026, and the program is led by instructor Jesse Lazzarino, owner of Lazzarino Machine Works. The pathway now includes an articulation agreement with Butte College, allowing students who complete Welding 1 at PCS to earn credit equivalent to an introductory college-level course — providing a direct entry point into Butte College’s professional welding program.
The welding classes are based at IVA, with PCS Quincy students transported to participate, and PCS Chester students also welcome to enroll. The facility is additionally used to support Feather River Adult Education classes through the Plumas County Office of Education, further expanding workforce development opportunities in the region.
Future Community Library Space
The IVA high school library will be open to the public, offering a preview of a developing community resource space. The project is being led by Tracy Kepple and dedicated volunteers, including Suzanne Stirling, who are working to inventory, organize and refresh the library. One of the goals for the space is to provide after-school access for both students and community members, creating a shared resource for learning and connection. The library will also feature five laptop computers available for student and community use.
As part of that effort, a plant sale fundraiser will take place during the showcase to support the purchase of updated books, as the current collection has not been significantly refreshed since 2016. Community members are invited to tour the space, learn more about the project and contribute to its growth.
Fitness Center and Makerspace
Attendees can also visit the on-campus Fitness Center and Makerspace, operated by the Indian Valley Recreation and Parks District. These community-centered spaces offer fitness opportunities, creative tools and classes for both students and local residents. Current programming information is available at www.ivrpd.org.
A Celebration of Students and Community
The IVA Student Showcase continues to evolve as a signature event that reflects both student achievement and the broader role of the campus as a hub for community connection, learning and opportunity.
Families, friends and community members are encouraged to attend, explore the campus and celebrate the work and growth of IVA students.
