The Plumas Charter Warriors' varsity boy’s basketball team saw their postseason hopes dashed on February 25, falling to the Biggs Wolverines 81-62 on the road. The loss ended the Warriors' four-game winning streak and marked the conclusion of a successful season that saw them finish with a 25-6 overall record.
Despite the defeat, junior standout Dalton Bentz delivered yet another dominant performance, racking up a double-double with 23 points and 10 steals. It was Bentz’s ninth consecutive game with at least 18 points, further solidifying his role as the team’s offensive leader. Owen Joseph also put up an impressive effort in his last high school basketball game, scoring 20 points while shooting 8-for-19 from the field.
Although the Warriors' postseason run ended sooner than they had hoped, the team had a remarkable season, highlighted by key wins and individual standout performances.
The basketball program officially wrapped up on Saturday, March 1, with the much-anticipated annual Donkey Basketball event. The fun-filled community tradition saw high school players face off against parents and local community members—this year, the adults took home the win. The event, which combines basketball with the unpredictable antics of riding donkeys, serves as both a celebration of the season and a fundraiser for Indian Valley Boosters.
However, before the gym floor is cleared for good, basketball fans have one last chance to hit the court. The Men’s Adult Basketball Tournament will take place on March 14-16 at the Greenville Gym, marking the final official basketball event of the season. This tournament will raise funds for the Warriors boy’s basketball team, with entry fees of $300 per team and limited to the first 16 paid teams. Spectators can enjoy the action for $5 per adult and $3 per student or senior. Those interested in signing up as a team or a free agent can contact Kaley Bentz at (530) 228-9390.
With a strong season behind them and a community eager to keep the basketball spirit alive, the Warriors are already looking ahead to next year.
