As the spring sports season nears its conclusion, the Plumas Charter Warriors baseball and softball teams have been battling through competitive matchups with strong performances and spirited teamwork. With Senior Night on the horizon this week, it’s a moment to reflect on recent games—and to celebrate the dedication of our graduating athletes.
Baseball:
After an early April shutout win, the Warriors baseball team continued pushing forward, taking on rivals like Loyalton, Chester and Portola. The boys ended their 13-game streak of wins when they came up short against the Loyalton Grizzlies, falling 10-3. Despite the loss, the team has stayed resilient, showing strong defensive play and timely hitting.
Senior Owen Joseph (#1) continues to be a reliable presence on the mound and at the plate. Jhett Neer (#3) has provided steady infield defense and big hits, while Kooper Clark (#28) and Liam Carmichael (#2) have contributed with clutch plays and leadership that younger players look up to.
As they wrap up their final season, the four seniors have exemplified grit and growth—qualities that define Warriors baseball.
Softball:
The Lady Warriors have played a fast-paced few weeks, including a hard-fought series split with Princeton on April 28. They dropped a close game to Chester on April 30 and battled in two competitive matchups with Loyalton on May 2, ultimately coming up short.
One of the biggest highlights came from senior Aubrie Schramel (#9), who crushed back-to-back over-the-fence home runs against Princeton and Chester—showcasing her power and poise at the plate. Fellow senior Savannah Hymas (#7) continues to lead from behind the plate, bringing a strong defensive presence and steady communication. The team also celebrates senior Mallory Tyler (#14), who plays both third base and outfield with standout defense and a team-first attitude, always stepping up wherever she’s needed most.
The girls host Chester on Wednesday, May 7 and Burney on Thursday, May 8—which will also be their official Senior Night—before traveling with the boys to Hayfork on Friday for the final league doubleheader.
Celebrating Senior Night:
Baseball Senior Night will take place on Wednesday, May 7 in Greenville, during their game against Chester starting at 4 p.m. Then, on Thursday, May 8, come back to help the softball team honor their graduating teammates during the match up against Burney at 4 p.m. Senior Night is more than a ceremony, it's a thank you to these student athletes for their hard work, leadership and the example they've set. We invite the community to come out, cheer loud and show appreciation as these Warriors take the field at home one final time.
