Plumas Charter School offers students a variety of different paths to graduation

Project Study   Do you have a specific area of interest? Would you like to build your education around a subject or theme, such as travel, starting a business, the environment, a trade, or the performing arts?  Project study allows a student to focus on specific area, explore it in depth, and graduate upon successful completion of the project.  Your ES will assist you in locating sources of information and experience as well as in integrating your other academic subjects into your project.

Project study will allow your student to focus on specific area on interest. Like a graduate degree from a university, successful completion of a project will culminate in graduation. Your ES will assist you in laying the educational groundwork, which may consist of selecting appropriate, commercially created curriculum or designing a course of study specifically for your child.

Credit by Exam   Students can receive course credit by demonstrating mastery with a score of 75% or better on a course specific exam. These exams will be given only under controlled conditions. .

California High School Proficiency Exam (CHSPE) Student who would like to complete high school independent of PCS may also take the CHSPE, which is the legal equivalent of a high school diploma. This option would allow students to complete high school without the requirement of completing a set number of specific classes. For more information on the CHSPE, go to: http://www.chspe.net/

Conventional Course of Study    Students can choose to pursue a program similar to what is offered in a conventional high school.  This is the recommended option for students who might wish to transfer back into their district school of residence.  PCS students enjoy the flexibility to schedule and pace their education to suit their personal needs while at the same time keeping future educational options open. .
