PCS Board
PCS is an independent charter school and as such has its own governing board. As required by California law, our board meetings are open to the public, and the agenda for every meeting is posted in advance at all five PCS learning centers. Meetings are held at 1:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at PCS Quincy, 424 N. Mill Creek Rd. If you have a question about attending a board meeting, please call the Quincy office.
Plumas Charter operates under a California non-profit corporation, Plumas Alternative Learning Services, or PALS. Our bylaws provide for a 12-member board, to be composed of: 3 PCS staff members (2 administrators and 1 teacher); 1 student member (non-voting); the Superintendent of our charter granting agency, Plumas Unified School District (non-voting); and 7 community and parent members.
Board members’ terms are all two years, except for the PUSD Superintendent and 2 PCS administrators, whose positions run for the length of their employment in those positions, and the PCS student and teacher representatives, whose terms are one year.
If you think you might like to serve on our board, we welcome you to attend a meeting to gain an idea of the board’s duties and concerns. If you decide you would like to serve, you should then submit a letter of interest to the board, which meets formally in each June with prospective members to conduct a selection process. New members are seated annually, at the July meeting, except in the case of midterm vacancies, which will be announced and filled as they occur.
If you would like to contact a member or members of the PCS Board, you can write to them at Plumas Charter School, 424 N. Mill Creek Rd., Quincy, CA 95971 |
