Field Trip's Past&Present

Yosemite National Park Field Trip
An exciting finale field trip to Yosemite National Park is planned for April 27-May 1, 2009. We will be learning about the geology, flora and fauna, water-falls, and famous people associated with the park. Excursions will be ar-ranged at dawn and dusk for the photographers in the group. It is expected that all student participants will keep an illustrated journal to be shared with their ES at the conclusion of the trip. We have three lessons planned so that our school will receive waivers for the entry fee. There is also time scheduled for family choices and excursions. Campsites have been reserved. Each site can accommodate 6 campers. We already have 18 campers who have contacted Jon Archer, at the Susanville office, 257-1240, and made their reservations. Some families are "roughing" it at the Yosemite View Lodge in El Portal just outside the Park. If you are interested in the lodge they have a website showing the rooms, which include kitchenettes, where you can make your own arrangements. In preparation for the trip students should be familiar with Galen Clark and with John Muir and his writings. (He kept great journals.) The Park website is loaded with information and links. We are looking forward to sharing this experience with you!
